I often travel to the local Botanical Gardens as I find it provides a multitude of opportunities for macro photography. It is almost like attending a variety of climate types at once. I found this guy half way through a meal so luckily she/he wasn’t in the mood to be moving around too much. I used off-camera flash and focused on its eyes, using f/8 on my lens as this generally gives me the sharpest results and a reasonable depth of field. I added a vignette and did some layers adjustments and sharpening in Photoshop.

I was in Fitzroy (Melbourne) one evening scouting around the lanes for shots for my camera club competition. I found this scene in a lane. It was dark by this time but a couple of street lights provided enough light. Also light from the city was reflecting in the clouds.

By David Ashley. I took this image at Lucky Bay, Cape Le Grand National Park just outside of Esperance WA. I had heard of the beauty of the place and of the kangaroo population that laze on the pure white sand soaking up the sun. No white sand on this particular day as rough seas overnight had covered the shore in seaweed.

This however provided a comfortable base for the roos to relax on and you could tell, they were enjoying their day in the sun!
