By Aemelia Stivaktakis. Found this amazing leaf whilst out for a walk. On closer inspection I discovered it had a spectacular vein-like appearance, and this made me think about slowing down and appreciating the world around me.

Aemelia is so right about slowing down. The jewel like detail of this leaf and the way its delicate structure is so beautifully rendered in all its monochrome splendour is a visual delight.
It’s not obvious just how Amelia achieved the pure black background, but it works very well to give the image a purity and simplicity. A reminder, if one were needed, that extraordinary beauty is all around us if we only look.
