LaserSoft Imaging has released the latest version of its photo editing software for scanning, SilverFast 8.
The new software provides all of the editing and adjustment controls needed for the entire scanning and imaging process, including IT8 scanner calibration for true-colour reproduction, lossless data formats for image archiving, professional printing functionality and both powerful automatic and precise user control settings. SilverFast 8 is also individually adjusted to every supported scanner and the software supports products from all leading manufacturers. SilverFast targets are precision-manufactured in small batches and certified by FOGRA.
The software provides a number of improvements to make workflows more efficient. The WorkflowPilot is a wizard-based interface that guides users through all processing steps, depending on the nature of the material being digitised. Additional support is provided by texts and QuickTime movies that are directly accessible from the software. Users can see immediately the results of any adjustments made in the preview window, which reflects the appearance of the final output, even for complex enhancement functions like iSRD for infrared-based dust and scratch removal and Unsharp Masking. The preview window zoomed to 100% for detailed analysis. SilverFast 8 is also multitasking capable.
