Following its presentation at Photokina last month, GoPro is now shipping its new line of next generation HERO3 cameras globally.
Three models are available: the HERO3: Black Edition is available for AU$489.99; the HERO3: Silver Edition retails for AU$379.99 and the HERO3: White Edition retails for AU $269.99. The flagship model, Black, is 30% smaller, 25% lighter and twice as powerful than any previous model. Wearable, gear mountable and waterproof to 60 metres, the HERO3: Black Edition can record 12-megapixel still images at up to 30 frames/second (fps) and can capture ultra-wide angle HD movies at 1080p/60 fps, 1440p/48 fps, 720p/120 fps, 2.7Kp/30 fps and 4Kp/15 fps. Built-in Wi-Fi, GoPro App compatibility, and the included Wi-Fi Remote add to the appeal of this model.
The other HERO3 models share the same stills and movie resolution as the models they replace. The Silver Edition records 11-megapixel photos, while the White Edition has a stills resolution of five megapixels. Both cameras can record movies at 1080p/30 fps and 720p/60 fps and both are 30% smaller and 25% lighter than the previous models and come with built-in Wi-Fi.
