July 1, 2010: This month will see the release of Sanyo’s VPC-X1420, a 14-megapixel digicam for point-and-press snapshooters.
Weighing only 98 grams and only 81.1 mm thick, the VPC-X1420 will be offered in black and red for an RRP of $199 through Target stores Australia-wide. It sports a 3-inch wide LCD monitor and 4x optical zoom lens with 4x digital zoom. Smile and face detection technology senses and tracks smiles in the frame and then sets the optimal focus and exposure. Digital image stabilisation is also included.
Both high-resolution still pictures and High Definition video at 1280 x 720 pixels can be recorded and the camera is compatible with SD. SDHC and SDXC memory cards. A screen capture function on the VPC-X1420 allows individual windows on a computer monitor to be saved in the camera. Most popular scene pre-sets are also provided and the new camera has a sensitivity range up to ISO 1600.
