November 28, 2006: Sanyo Australia has released details of its new Xacti VPC-HD1A high definition digital movie camera, which has been developed for high quality, high definition home movie recording.
Featuring a compact, ultra-slim design and fold-out 2.2-inch LCD monitor, the HD1A boasts a 5.1-megapixel CCD image sensor and 10x optical zoom lens. Up to 10x digital zoom is provided and pixel-interpolation enables it to produce shots with the equivalent of 10-megapixel resolution. Weighing only 210 grams without battery and memory card, the HD1A can record high-definition MPEG-4 movies at 1280 x 720 pixels and 30 fps or VGA clips at 60 fps for TV display. Still images can be captured while video is being recorded. Key function buttons are grouped together on the rear panel of the camera to allow users to shoot single-handed.
The Xacti HD1A is supplied with a docking station that allows it to be connected to a TV, VCR, PC or DVD recorder to playback images or video clips or download shots to a computer. Digital stereo sound recording and noise reduction give video clips a professional quality. A pop-up flash is provided for shooting still in dim lighting.
