Leica will add a number of new products to its line-up before Christmas, including a design variant of the Leica D-Lux 6 digicam, a new 45mm f/2.8 lens for SD-System cameras and ‘Made in Germany’ accessories.

Complementing the existing D-Lux 6, which has a matt black finish, the new variant will feature a high-gloss, two-colour finish with a silver lens and a high-gloss black camera body. The camera continues to have the same specifications, otherwise, with a fast 24 to 90 mm (35 mm equivalent) lens and 1/1.7-inch (7.6 x 5.7 mm) CMOS sensor plus a comprehensive range of features. A new accessory is the Leica Soft Pouch in lambskin nappa leather, which has a wrap-around design and comes in black. The Leica D-Lux 6 in high gloss finish will be available from December from Leica Boutiques and authorised Leica Dealers for RRP $1050 inclusive of GST.

The latest addition to the Leica S medium format system, the Elmarit-S 45 mm f/2.8 ASPH., brings the total to nine lenses (six of which are also available as an alternative option with a central shutter). Covering a moderate wide-angle view, equivalent to a classic 35 mm lens for 35 mm photography, this lens is ideal for landscapes and architectural photography as well as studio use. The lens features an extremely robust bayonet mount and is fully sealed against dust and spray. It is available this month from authorised Leica dealers for RRP $8,000, with the integrated central shutter version RRP $9,500. The lens is supplied with a rectangular lens hood specially optimised for the optical system.

Scheduled for local release in October and November are the new Leica Traveller carbon tripod and two easy-to-use Leica 24/38 ball heads. The new Leica carbon tripod is an ideal complement to the two ball heads and weighs only 1.2 kg. It can be collapsed to a small size that fits in any travel camera bag. An outdoor carrying case made of Cordura with a strap and shoulder pad is available as an optional accessory.

These new products are further complemented by a set of three quick-change plates for use with the Leica 24 and 38 ball heads. The Leica 24 and 38 ball heads are designed and constructed to be compact and versatile. The 24 mm ball head weighs only 230 grams but can securely hold a camera system with a light lens. The 38 mm ball head includes a tilt button that prevents the camera from being moved in any plane other than vertical. It also has a 360 ° panorama function  with 15 ° STOP button.

The Leica Tripod will be available from October 2013 for RRP $700 along with the Leica Ball Heads 24/38   RRP $320/$550 and 3x set exchangeable mounting plates for RRP $60 will be available from authorised Leica dealers. The Cordura bag for the Leica Traveller Tripod will be available from the beginning of November 2013.
