Featuring a more traditional design than the TL2, the retro-look CL has the same 24-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor and Maestro II processor. It also includes an integrated 2,360,000- dot EVF as well as a fixed, 3-inch touchscreen LCD with 1,040,000 dots and a data LCD on the top panel.

The new camera supports an ISO range of ISO 100 to ISO 50000, along with both mechanical and electronic shutters, the latter supporting  totally silent operation along with shutter speeds up to 1/25000 second. The maximum frame rate is 10 frames/second with the mechanical shutter for up to 33 DNG+JPEG pairs or 140 JPEGs.

The 49-point contrast-detection AF system includes spot, one-point, Multi-Point, Touch AF and Face Detection modes.   The sensor and processor also enable the camera to record UHD 4K video at 30/25 fps or Full HD at 60/50 fps and HD at 30 fps. Wi-Fi connectivity enables wireless sharing and remote camera control from a linked mobile device via the free Leica App.

The Leica CL’s L-bayonet mount is compatible with both full-frame SL-series and APS-C TL-series lenses and the camera can accept a variety of adapters to enable use of the entire M-mount lens library as well as S, R, and Cine series lenses. Images are stored on SD, SDHC, SDXC memory cards and the single card slot offers UHS-II support. The BP-DC12 rechargeable battery is CIPA rated for approximately 220 shots/charge.

The Leica CL is priced from US$2,795 for the body only and is only available in black. Full details can be found at https://au.leica-camera.com/Photography/Leica-APS-C/Leica-CL/Details.
