March 16, 2007: The new Leica C-Lux 2 7.2-megapixel digicam will go on sale in Australia from May.
The slimmest model in the Leica range, it has an elegant metal body that will be available in black or silver. It sports a 3.6x optical zoom lens (28-100mm in 35mm format) and is the first ultra compact digital camera from Leica to incorporate “Intelligent ISO” automatic exposure control that increases the ISO setting to 800 to allow fast shutter speeds to be used. This function is linked to the camera’s optical image stabilisation system to ensure sharply focused photos of moving objects even in poor light. The DC Vario-Elmarit f/2.8-5.6/4.6-16.4 mm leans features aspheric elements to minimise aberrations. Shots are framed with the aid of the 2.5-inch LCD monitor, which has a resolution of 207,000 pixels plus brightness adjustment.
