October 15, 2005: The latest LEAF Aptus digital backs for medium- and large-format cameras will become available in Australia in the first quarter of 2006.
The new Aptus 75 back features a 33.3-megapixel sensor with a resolution of 6726 x 5040 pixels, producing a file size of approximately 200MB (16-bit), while the Aptus 65 has a resolution of 6144 x 4622 pixels and delivers a file size of 160MB (16-bit). The sensors in both backs have a pixel pitch of 7.2 microns and support a sensitivity range of ISO 50-800. Both offer lossless 16-bit file compression, which can halve the size of raw files. A touch screen on the back provides quick access to all tools for controlling final image quality. Pre-shoot set-up tools allow photographers to create image settings and file/folder names and embed them in raw files, thereby reducing the time required to deliver the final image.
Both backs are fully compatible with wide-angle lenses and shift and tilt movements and image files can be opened directly in Adobe Photoshop CS. Storage options include CompactFlash card, 20 or 30 GB Digital Magazine, FireWire Disk or computer HDD. LEAF system customers receive the added value of a three-year warranty on the camera back and a smooth upgrade path to new generations of LEAF digital camera backs.
