Verbatim to Offer USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drives

October 12, 2010: Verbatim will release its first USB 3.0 Store’n’Go Portable Hard Drives in Australia later this month.
Available in 500GB and 1TB capacities, the new drives support bus speeds of up to 4.8Gbit/second, a ten-fold increase in performance compared to existing USB 2.0 connections. The 500GB drive measures 127mm x 82mm x 20mm in size and weighs only 165 grams. Both models fit comfortably in the palm of the hand. The single-cable solution provides a combined data and power connection eliminating the need for a separate power supply.
Each drive comes with two software packages. Nero BackItUp and Burn Essentials, combines three important functions: as well as regularly backing-up all files and folders users can also burn photos, videos or other data onto CD, DVD or Blu-ray Disc, and recover damaged files with Nero RescueAgent. The GREEN BUTTON software reduces energy consumption and extends the drive’s life expectancy by automatically engaging sleep mode after a programmed period of time or when the user manually clicks on the GREEN BUTTON on the desktop.

The new USB 3.0 Store’n’Go drives are backwards compatible with USB 2.0 host devices at USB high speed and can be used with Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems. Each drive comes with a 24 month guarantee.
