Sony Ericsson’s 5-megapixel Cyber-shot Phone

November 28, 2007: The new Sony Ericsson K850i Cyber-Shot phone combines a 5-megapixel camera with extended mobile phone functionality.
Supercharged with Tri-Band HSDPA 3G technology the K850i make photo sharing fast and easy and allows high-speed picture and video blogging. Camera functions include autofocusing and an intuitive menu system for easy scrolling between shooting mode selection and functions like flash controls and picture size. A built-in Xenon flash provides added illumination in dimly-lit situations. The lens cover retracts automatically with a touch of the camera button, which sits next to a new mode selector for switching between camera, video and picture viewing modes.
Users can select common camera functions with touch soft keys at the bottom of the phone screen and illuminated icons on the key pad, which act as shortcuts for digital zoom and other functions. ISO sensitivity, metering, white balance and flash controls are provided. Post-capture adjustments are provided via PhotoFix, a one-click way to automatically improve light balance and contrast and correct red-eye. Images can be viewed on the K850i’s large 2.2-inch display, either in portrait or landscape as the phone is rotated. One click uploads to the web at HSDPA speeds allow users to share images via email or photo messaging.
The new media browser places photos, video, music and podcasts in one unique Sony Ericsson media hub, which can be searched by category or through the month taken or downloaded. On-board storage of 40MB is provided and the K850i’s flexible memory supports Memory Stick Micro (M2) and Micro SD for up to 4GB. Music capabilities include an FM radio and stereo output through the included earbud headset plus support for A2DP stereo Bluetooth streaming, Megabass and DRM.
