July 5, 2006: The new Sony Alpha 100 digital SLR and associated kit lenses is due to go on sale in Australia on 31 July and the company is offering prospective buyers the chance to place orders now.
The camera will be sold in three options: body only (RRP $1499), body plus 18-70mm lens (RRP $1749) and body plus 18-70mm and 75-300mm lenses (RRP $1,999). Features of the new camera include an APS-C sized 10.2-megapixel CCD image sensor with a crop factor of 1.5x; Super Steady Shot image stabilisation in the camera body; dual dust reduction technologies and a wide range of user adjustable controls.
