The Silver Lining Awards is an online photo competition to help professional member of the AIPP fill the COVID-10 void. They were conceived earlier in the year, when it became
clear the Institute’s regular print-based competitions – a key component of its members’ annual activities – wouldn’t be possible at either a state or a national level. Current members were invited to enter on-line, but unlike any other online photography competition, the AIPP built-in additional elements to make the whole experience educational and motivational as well as inspirational. For example, members were offered the opportunity to submit images for pre-entry critique by experienced judges – valuable feedback for any photographer. This enabled entrants to fine-tune their images prior to submission. The competition was organised under two broad headings: Classic and Creative. The winners are as follows:
CREATIVE
Portrait – Forough Yavari
Places – Kris Anderson
Goods & Services – Mark Brierley
Celebration – Leon O’Neil
Photo Illustration – Forough Yavari
CLASSIC
Life – Karen Waller
Wild – Scott Portelli
Journeys – Brian Hodges
Isolated – Karen Waller
Abstract – Jackie Ranken
STUDENT – Anna Luscombe
NEWCOMER – Ruth Woodrow
