July 25, 2008: The new Lumix DMC-LX3 10.1-megapixel digicam will be released in Australia by Panasonic in September at an RRP of $879. ![]() The LX3 offers a full suite of manual controls, with P, A, S and M modes on its mode dial plus 23 pre-set scene modes – including new ‘Pin Hole’ and ‘Film Grain’ modes for film camera-like effects. An Image Levelling function rotates the image to straighten it and crops the unnecessary edges when sloping horizons are detected. The flash also includes first- and second-curtain synchro settings. The DMC-LX3 also offers the convenience of a 2.0 High Speed-compatible USB port and up to 50MB of internal memory. ![]()
Video recording capabilities are extensive and include support for video in 1280 x 720p format at 30 frames/second, in addition to WVGA (848 x 480) and VGA (640 x 480). HD component output allows users to connect the camera to an HDTV using an optional component cable (DMW-HDC2E). Like other Lumix cameras. The LX3 can take 1920 x 1080 pixel HD (high-definition) photos that perfectly fit a widescreen (16:9) HDTV for full-screen viewing.
