November 7, 2011: Panasonic has released details of a new flagship addition to its Lumix G Micro System range, the premium compact DMC-GX1.
The first in the premium GX line, the GX1 combines a compact camera body with all the benefits in function and form that have been realised through the continually evolving G Series range. It has the 16-megapixel Live MOS sensor introduced in the G3 within a rangefinder-style body that is designed for photo enthusiasts. Users will be able to customise the camera by assigning their own personal settings to four function (Fn) buttons.
The GX1 comes with a built-in flash plus a hot-shoe that accepts a newly-developed optional Live View Finder or accessory flashguns. The new camera is due for local release in early 2012. Pricing will be announced closer to the release date. It will be offered in black as body-only or with the Lumix G Vario 14-42mm/F3.5-5.6 ASPH/MEGA OIS (H-FS14042E) kit lens.
The GX1 body will also be available in black and silver with the new Lumix G X Vario Power Zoom 14-42mm/F3.5-5.6 ASPH./POWER O.I.S (H-PS14042E) lens.
