: Panasonic will release its 5-megapixel DMC-LC1 Lumix camera in April at an RRP of $2499.
Featuring a fast (f2.0-f2.4) Leica DC Vario-Summicron lens with 28mm-90mm (35mm equivalent) focal length, the DMC-LC1 has a 3.2x optical zoom range. Zoom, focus and aperture are manually controlled by ring settings on the lens, which has special multi-coating on all surfaces to minimise internal reflections and provide top image quality. The DMC-LC1 boasts a full range of manual controls, with shutter speeds controlled by a dial on the top of the unit and manual focusing from 30cm to infinity. Panasonic’s Venus Engine LSI handles all image processing functions simultaneously – from displaying the image on the LCD to writing data to the memory card – as soon as the CCD captures the image signal.
