Samsung has added six new models to its range of digicams, introducing a new Perfect Portrait System that includes Face Detection, Beauty Shot and Smile and Blink Detection modes.
March 23, 2009: Samsung has added six new models to its range of digicams, introducing a new Perfect Portrait System that includes Face Detection, Beauty Shot and Smile and Blink Detection modes. The flagship WB500 model (RRP $529) features a 10.2 megapixel sensor and is the first with a Schneider 24mm 10x optical zoom lens. It sports a 2.7-inch LCD screen and provides a range of shooting modes, including three in-camera Photo Style settings: Classic (B&W), Normal and Soft (muted colours). Dual Image Stabilisation is also built in and the WB500 records High Definition (HD) movie clips with 720P resolution at 30 frames per second. Samsung’s Smart Album feature makes it easy to search for specific images saved on the memory card according to date and overall colour tone, as well as photo, video or voice memo. Samsung’s flagship model, the WB500. (Source: Samsung.) The slim Samsung ST50 (RRP $379) comes in a brushed stainless steel only 16.6mm wide (excluding the lens). Available in silver, black, blue and red, it has a 12.2-megapixel sensor and 3x optical zoom, as well as a 2.7-inch LCD screen. This model introduces Samsung’s new Smart Auto feature, which automatically selects the most appropriate scene mode for the user. The 10.2-megapixel PL60 (RRP $299) and PL50 (RRP $249) models come in silver, grey, black and pink and are powered by rechargeable Li-Ion batteries. Both models record video in VGA resolution at 30 frames/second. The PL60 sports a 5x optical zoom and a 2.7-inch LCD screen while the PL50 offers 3x optical zoom. Both models feature MPEG video recording and an advanced movie mode that lets users pause and resume recording without having to save each video clip as an individual file.
