February 2, 2006: Local distributor, Adeal, releases the new Samsung Digimax S600 camera this month.
Featuring a 5-megapixel sensor and 3x optical zoom lens, plus up to 5x digital zoom, the S600 is prices affordably at only $299. The new model has a 2.4-inch, 112,000-pixel LCD screen plus a quick replay button that allows images to be viewed immediately. Up to 10x playback zoom is provided for checking focus accuracy. The S600 offers three image quality settings, Super Fine, Fine or Normal and 6 resolution settings from 2816 x 2112 pixels down to 1024 x 768 plus 640 x 480 pixels for VGA movies. The camera comes with 20MB of built-in memory plus a slot for SD cards (up to 1GB). It also supports USB 2.0 transfer rate for fast download speeds.
Designed for point-and-shoot photographers, the Digimax S600 has many attractive features, including macro shooting to 5 cm, a convenient mode dial with settings for Auto, Program AE and Manual operation plus Night, Portrait and Child modes. In all, 10 Scene modes are provided, along with Red-eye reduction, which is activated automatically in dim lighting. Special effects functions include B&W, Sepia, Blue, Red, Green or Negative colour modes, four Highlight settings for differential focusing, nine Photo Frames and a Composite Shot mode that lets users combine 2-4 shots in a single file.
