March 10, 2009: Tasco Sales Australia has been appointed as local distributor for GE digital cameras and will release 10 new models in coming months.
All models feature auto scene detection, optical image stabilisation and a Pan-Capture function that allows users to shoot and stitch together three shots to create an extra wide-angle picture. The user simply pans across the scene, while the camera determines when to take the second and third shots. The image processor determines overlap and stitches the three frames together, saving them as a single image.
The new models are offered in four categories with effective resolutions ranging from 9.1 to 12.2 megapixels. The five A Series models use AA alkaline batteries and have a top ISO setting of 1600 plus 24MB of internal memory. Common to cameras in this series are a 2.5-inch LCD monitor and 12 Scene pre-sets. All models include Face Detection, Smile Detection and Blink Detection technologies plus in-camera red-eye removal.
The GE A1035 is offered in red, black, silver and pink.
Three models are provided in the E Series, all with 12.2-megapixel resolution and rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. All three models feature 3-inch LCD screens and 28mm wide-angle lenses. Zoom ranges of either 5x or 7x (optical) are provided and all models include optical image stabilisation. The top-of-the-range E1250TW model has a touch panel LCD and offers HDTV output.
