April 10, 2006: Sony has added a high-resolution model, the Cyber-shot DSC-T30, to its T-series range of slimline digicams.
Featuring a 7.2-megapixel sensor, Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 3x optical zoom lens and large 3-inch Clear Photo LCD Plus screen, the DSC-T30 comes with dual-action protection against camera shake. Button controls access the camera’s Super Steady Shot optical image stabilisation and high-sensitivity mode, allowing users to match the camera’s settings to the ambient lighting. The T30’s high sensitivity mode extends up to ISO 1000, which is ideal for low-light shots without flash in locations such as restaurants, bars and clubs. The camera also includes Sony’s Clear RAW noise reduction system, which is activated automatically to reduce image noise associated with high-sensitivity shooting.
Available in sliver or black, the DSC-T30 is the first T-series camera with selectable colour modes. Users can choose between “Natural” and “Vivid” colour reproduction, depending on the mood they wish to create. The T30 can also capture VGA video clips at up to 30 fps with sound, with length limited only by the capacity of the media in the camera. The camera comes with 58 MB of built-in memory which can be expanded to 2 GB with optional Memory Stick Duo media cards.
Camera response times have also been optimised through use of Sony’s Real Imaging Processor circuitry, which increases the camera’s efficiency for quicker start-up, faster shot-to-shot times, higher-quality movie capture, and longer battery life. The camera is supplied with a rechargeable InfoLithium battery that provides power for up to 420 shots per charge.
Sony Australia has confirmed the T30 will be sold in Australia. Launch time and pricing have not yet been announced but we’ll post details on this website when they are available.
