Winning images from the 2007 Canon Australian Professional Photography Awards (Canon APPAs) will be on show at the Rialto Plaza Foyer in Collins Street, Melbourne, between 15 and 26 October.

 

October 3, 2007: Winning images from the 2007 Canon Australian Professional Photography Awards (Canon APPAs) will be on show at the Rialto Plaza Foyer in Collins Street, Melbourne, between 15 and 26 October.
Now in its 31st year, the 2007 Canon APPAs received over 1900 entries from 512 photographers who each compete for top honours in their specialised categories as well as for the overall title of ‘Canon/AIPP Australian Professional Photographer of the Year’. Categories this year include Advertising/Fashion, Editorial, Commercial/Industrial, Illustrative, Portrait, Wedding, Environment, Science & Nature and Landscape. A stunning portfolio of illustrative images will feature from the winner of the 2007 Canon/AIPP Australian Professional Photographer of the Year, Gay Campbell.

 

Melbourne-based photographers are well represented in the exhibition with Rocco Ancora, Tim Griffith, George Apostolidis and Pina Raiola among the ten category winners. The Age Newspaper received the inaugural 2007 AIPP Press Photography Award. The free exhibition will be on display to the public in the Rialto foyer at 525 Collins Street from 15 – 26 October before continuing on a tour of Australia’s capital cities and regional areas, including Hobart, North Queensland, Brisbane and Fremantle.
