Fujifilm will release three new digital cameras toward the end of the year: the SLR-style FinePix S7000 and FinePix S5000 models and the entry-level FinePix A210.

 

July 2003: Fujifilm will release three new digital cameras toward the end of the year: the SLR-style FinePix S7000 and FinePix S5000 models and the entry-level FinePix A210.
The FinePix S7000 has a 9mm Super CCD HR sensor with a resolution of 6.3 million effective pixels and a fast (f2.8) 6x optical zoom lens with a focal length range equivalent to 35-210mm in 35mm format. This lens has a normal focusing range of 50 cm to infinity but will focus down to 1 cm in Super Macro mode.

Designed to attract photo enthusiasts, it features a full suite of manual controls plus a range of special shooting modes that includes continuous focusing, continuous five frame 12MP shooting, auto bracketing and custom white balance. Shutter speeds range from 15 seconds to1/10,000 sec in manual mode to ¼ sec to1/2000 sec with the auto setting. Continuous shooting speeds range from 1 fps for 40 frames to 3.3 fps for 5 frames.
Dual slots for xD-Picture Card and Microdrive provide users with flexible storage options and the camera offers CCD-RAW and JPEG capture. RAW files can be converted to TIFF format with the supplied FinePix Viewer software. Full VGA movie recording is available at 30 frames per second with sound. The FinePix S7000 measures 121 x 82 x 97 mm and weighs only 500 grams (with battery).
The FinePix S5000 is similar to the FinePix S7000 but has a 6.59mm Super CCD HR sensor, with a resolution of 3.1 million effective pixels. This model has an f2.8, 10x optical zoom lens (equivalent to 37-370mm in 35mm format) plus 2.2x digital zoom and a full complement of manual adjustments. It also supports CCD-RAW capture. The FinePix S5000 measures 113 x 81 x 79 mm and weighs only 430 grams (battery included).
The FinePix A210 has a 3.2 megapixel (effective) sensor and 3x optical zoom lens plus 3.2x digital zoom. This model is compatible with the CP-FXA10 docking station (cradle) and supports movie clip recording at 320 x 240 pixel resolution with a frame rate of 10 fps. A video-out socket allows users to view still shots and movie clips on a TV set, without requiring a computer connection.
