Fujifilm FinePix F810

In summary
Fujifilm’s second ‘widescreen’ F-series camera, the F810 Zoom sports a new 6.3-megapixel Super CCD HR sensor which can deliver interpolated pictures with 4048 x 3040 pixels. The widescreen function appears to work by cropping the top and bottom of the frame. The F810 offers P, A, S and M shooting modes and RAW capture but many settings (widescreen, digital zoom, burst mode and ISO 800) are disabled when RAW is selected, and the conversion software is primitive and slow. . . Fujifilm FinePix F810
The slowest shutter speed is three seconds and the closest the F810 can focus is 7.5cm. VGA movie clips can be recorded at 30fps in both standard 4:3 and widescreen (16:9) modes.
The test camera produced sharp pictures with accurate colours and high resolution. RAW images had a wider dynamic range and more accurate colours than the JPEG files, but the supplied 16MB card only holds one shot. Low light shots were almost noise-free, even at ISO 400. The white balance was an above-average performer, producing the best colour accuracy with the manual pre-sets and custom setting. The flash delivered enough light in auto mode to illuminate an average room without over-exposing close objects in it.
Strengths
- Raw images have excellent quality
- Four continuous shooting modes
- 4x optical zoom lens
- Supplied with docking station
Weaknesses
- Viewfinder coverage is only 77%
- Some stuck pixels in long exposures
- Exposures favour shadow detail [BG05]
