October 2, 2007: Verbatim has announced the re-launch and extension of its portfolio of flash memory cards, with the arrival of a new range of SD, SDHC, miniSD and microSD Cards.
The new Secure Digital High Capacity format (SDHC) is based on the SDA 2.0 (SD Card Association) standard and offers storage capacity of 4GB, with 8GB due for shipping soon. Ideal for high-resolution digicams and camcorders, the new cards have a Class 6 speed rating, the highest speed class. A 6 megapixel digital camera can store around 1280 pictures on a single 4GB SDHC card, while a 8GB SDHC card can store around 2500 pictures. The 4GB SDHC card is available now, with 8GB expected soon.
Verbatim has also released new miniSD and microSD cards, both of which are targeted at users of camera-phones. The new miniSD cards are designed to meet the requirements of the 3G market and will suit the latest cellphones from Nokia, Siemens and Motorola. Designed specially for mobile phones, microSD cards consume very little power and are ideal for GPS devices, MP3 players, digital cameras and PDAs. Verbatim miniSD and microSD cards are available now in 1GB and 2GB capacities.
