August 12, 2009: Verbatim will expand its range with an external RAID hard disk offering 2 terabytes of storage in the new 2-Disk RAID External Hard Drive.
The Verbatim RAID 2TB eSATA & USB 2.0 Combo drive has three user selectable RAID options: BIG / RAID 0 or RAID 1. In RAID BIG mode, the full capacity is seen as 1 BIG Drive with the 1 drive letter assigned to it. It fills up one of the Hard Disk’s before starting on the other one. In RAID 0, the user has access to the full 2TB of storage space through a process known as striping. This setting offers particular advantages for multimedia and graphics applications such as streaming, high-end gaming or use as a web server. The eSATA connection ensures data transfer rates of 3GB/s, six times the speed of a USB port which transfers at 480Mbit/s.
For applications where security is important, the drive can be configured to RAID 1, which divides the HDD into two partitions with 1TB of storage space each. The stored data is mirrored so that even if one drive fails or develops a fault, the data is still available on the second drive. The 2TB RAID is also supported by a 2-year Warranty plus Nero Back It Up 4 Essentials data backup software (compatible with Windows OS only). All the necessary cables for the eSATA and USB 2.0 connection are also included, along with the external power pack and a Quick Start Guide.
Verbatim’ s 2-Disk RAID External Hard Drives 2TB are available now at an RRP of $629.95. For more information, visit www.verbatim.com.au.
