: March will see Canon release three new entry-level digital camcorders, each featuring a high-resolution 800,000-pixel CCD sensor and high-resolution Canon zoom lens.
Top of the range is the MV750i (pictured), which features a 22x optical zoom lens and comes with a wide-angle attachment. It also includes a Super Night Mode that allows colour recordings to be made in virtual darkness. The MV730i has a 20x zoom lens and both it and the MV750i include SD/MMC card slots and support still capture at 1024 x 768 pixels and movie capture at 320 x 240 pixels. Both models are compatible with Canon’s Direct Print and PictBridge, allowing prints to be made on compatible printers, without requiring a PC. The MV700i has an 18x zoom lens and lacks a card slot.
All three models feature Canon’s DiG!C DV signal processing and all have lenses designed specifically for video, which include an aspherical element for optimal colour and sharpness. All modes support Night mode recording and offer 18 creative digital effects (including faders). They also include a DV line-in/out function that allows lossless duplication and transfer to computers for non-linear editing.
The bundled software includes Canon’s VideoPresenter 2.1, ZoomBrowser EX, Image Browser, PhotoRecord, PhotoStitch and DV Messenger2. For more information, go to www.canon.com.au.
