Powered by a 1/2.3-inch type (6.17 x 4.55 mm) 20.4-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor and BIONZ processor, the HX50V claims ‘exceptional’ low-light performance. Its AF system is more than twice the speed of the Cyber-shotâ„¢ HX200V at full zoom and  its X-type lithium-ion battery is smaller than any of its predecessors’ yet delivers 400 photos from a single charge. For more advanced photographers, there’s a dial to adjust exposure compensation, plus a mode dial for other manual shooting settings such as P/A/S/M modes. A Multi Interface Shoe is included for attaching compatible electronic viewfinders, flashes or microphones that complement the high quality Full HD video shooting and 50p recording capability of the HX50V. The Multi Terminal supports a remote controller.

Other features include Optical SteadyShot  stabilisation with an Active Mode  that reduces camera-shake when shooting videos on the move. Movie footage benefits from TRILUMINOS Colour technology, which delivers rich, natural colours when viewed on any TRILUMINOS Display TV. The HX50V offers nine different picture effects[9] to experiment with, enhancing your shots with an entirely new perspective. Three picture effects are also available in Intelligent Sweep Panorama mode, along with four special movie effects. The Cyber-Shot HX50V with powerful 30x zoom from Sony will be available in Australia from June 1st 2013 for AU$499SRP. The new camera can be viewed at http://youtu.be/4Z2Tt3NInDM.
