The new FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM wide-angle zoom is Sony’s the first wide-angle G Master model. It joins the FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM and FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS to complete the company’s line-up of f/2.8 large aperture zoom lenses. Ideal as a general-purpose lens, it can be used for landscapes, architecture, close up portraits, sports, action and street photography, the latter benefiting from its light weight and compact size. Its optical design that includes five aspherical elements, two of which are Sony’s original XA (extreme aspherical) elements, along with two ED (Extra low-Dispersion) glass elements and Sony’s Nano AR coating. It also has two DDSSMs (Direct Drive Super Sonic Wave Motors) that drive a floating focusing system to ensure speedy and quiet AF acquisition. An 11 bladed iris design closes to a circular aperture for attractive bokeh.
The new FE 12-24mm f/4 G lens is also equipped with a DDSSM AF drive mechanism and includes a customisable focus hold button and focus mode switch. Both lenses are dust and moisture resistant. Local pricing and availability for both lenses will be confirmed shortly. For more information, phone Sony Australia on 1300 720 071 or visit www.sony.com.au.
