Available in E, Z and XF mount versions, the AF 15mm f/1.7 Air lens weighs between 180 and 195 grams, depending on mount and covers a wide 84.9° field of view (equivalent to 22.5mm on a full-frame camera). The wide f/1.7 maximum aperture (adjustable down to f/16) can deliver clean, bright images in low-light scenes such as dim cafés, street action after dark and indoor gatherings. It also creates smooth, natural background blur, making it ideal for portraits and close-ups and enabling separation from the background with sharp focus on the main subject and a cinematic feel.
Its optical design comprises 12 elements in 10 groups. The lens’s three extra-low dispersion (ED) elements control chromatic aberration to ensure clean, high-contrast images. Three high-refractive index (HR) elements enhance edge-to-edge sharpness, while two aspherical elements suppress distortion. Viltrox’s advanced lens coatings reduce flare and ghosting, and capture clarity and contrast – even in challenging lighting.
