Panasonic’s latest L-mount lens claims to be the smallest and lightest long zoom lens for a full-frame camera, boasting a total length of 93.4 mm and a weight of around 413 grams.

Designed to match the company’s S Series camera bodies, the new lens is ideal for enthusiasts who want to travel without a weighty kit. Its rugged dust/splash-resistant design withstands challenging conditions and temperatures down to -10 degrees Celsius. In addition, the front lens element has a fluorine coating to repel liquids such as water or oil. An ND/PL filter with 67mm diameter can be attached when needed and the lens has a stable centre of gravity for gimbal use. The optimised optical design has 17 elements in 13 groups and includes one spherical lens, along with four ED and one UHR lenses to minimise aberrations and ensure superb resolution. Optical Image Stabilisation (O.I.S.) technology provides up to 6.5 stops of 5-Axis Dual I.S.2 shake correction. With a maximum magnification of 0.5x and a minimum focusing distance of 14 cm at the 28mm position, the lens can be easily used for close-ups of flowers, insects and other small objects.

The new lens will be available in Australia in May 2024 from leading photographic specialists for an RRP of AU$1599. Click here for more information.
