The new Panasonic Lumix S1II and S1IIE cameras round out the flagship S1 mirrorless Series providing flexible photographic and videographic capabilities for serious users.

The Lumix S1II is designed for professional photographers and videographers and features a newly developed 24.1-megapixel full-frame partially stacked CMOS image sensor plus the latest image processor with L2 technology. This combination allows for faster readout speeds and processing to support high frame rate recording in formats such as 4K 120p and 5.8K 60pi.A new Dynamic Range Boost mode encompasses a range of up to 15 stops in V-Log at frame rates below 30p. It also includes Panasonic’s first Open Gate 5.1K 60p high-speed recording option, along with other high-speed formats such as 4K 120p / 5.8K 60p for enhanced performance. For stills shooters, the camera supports high-speed continuous shooting of up to 70 frames per second with SH / SH pre-burst shooting up to 1.5 seconds.

The new Lumix S1IIE will be the preferred choice for those seeking upgrades in ergonomic design and refined engineering. Equipped with a 24.2-megapixel sensor developed from the chip used in the S5II, the new camera is designed for users that love the sensor capabilities of the S5IIX but appreciate the S1 grade camera body along with features like internal RAW recording. It also offers a new full width (2.4:1) 50/60p Cinemascope recording format, which is available in various frame rates including 60p without cropping. This camera is ideal for recording video production of weddings, short films and commercials but will also appeal to looking for a professional grade camera to capture photo and video content from wildlife to vlogs, portraits and landscapes.

Both cameras share the following features:

  • ARRI LogC3x will be available for the first time in the S series via the DMW-SFU3A Software Upgrade Key (sold separately) xi enabling the colours to match ARRI’s digital cinema cameras.
  • Redefined real-time recognition Phase Hybrid AF with improved eye and face detection and AI-driven tracking accuracy for people.
  • Addition of the new AF recognition for ‘Urban Sports’, accurately capturing dynamic movements like breakdancing, skateboarding, and parkour.
  • Enhanced 8.0-stopxii in-body image stabilisation (B.I.S.) and newly developed cropless E.I.S. video distortion correction, which stabilises without cropping the angle of view.
  • Supports 5.8K 30p / C4K 60p Apple ProRes RAW HQ / ProRes RAW internal recording to a CFexpress Type B card.
  • High-resolution 5.76 million-dot electronic viewfinder (EVF) and a versatile 1.84 million-dot tilt and free-angle monitor, equipped with a sturdy shutter mechanism rated for up to 400,000 cycles.
  • Operating efficiently at temperatures as low as -10 degrees Celsius.
  • Dual recording media options supporting SD and CFexpress Type B cards.
  • Seamless integration with accessories such as the DMW-BG2 battery grip and DMW-XLR2 microphone adaptor.
  • Compatibility with Capture One, the widely used professional editing software.
  • Compatibility with Frame.io, enabling smooth progression from shooting to editing, as well as cloud sharing and collaboration.
  • Supports LUMIX Lab, simplifying the transfer, editing, and colour personalisation of photos and videos for seamless smartphone integration and social media sharing.
  • Support for LUMIX Flow app assists with storyboard creation, on-site checks during filming, and automatic data organisation after shooting to support the video production workflow.
  • Capable of setting distinct parameters for photography and videography and seamlessly transferring settings from one camera to another using an SD card, thus ensuring uniform settings across diverse camera models.

To complement these cameras, Panasonic is also introducing the Lumix S 24-60mm f/2.8 (S-E2460GC) lens based on the L-Mount system standard. This newly added lens to the Lumix standard zoom lineup features a large aperture of f/2.8 throughout its versatile zoom range. The lens is compact and light for its class with a length of approximately 99.9 mm and weighing around 544 grams.

The Lumix S1II and S1IIE and Lumix S 24-60mm f/2.8 lens will be available in Australia in June from leading photographic retailers for AU$5299, $4199 and $1899, respectively.
