Going on the latest figures, CIPA estimates an annual production of 6.66 million interchangeable-lens cameras, 1.1.92 million compact fixed-lens cameras and 10.56 million lenses for calendar 2025. This would be a modest increase over 2024. While overall shipments are down a little in November 2025, compared with the previous month, aside from DSLRs they have increased since November 2024. Note: This is normal for November since it is after the main peak buying period in the year. Production figures for DSLR cameras are down 29% in units and 34% in shipped value, with the market shifting to mirrorless cameras, which have risen by 11% in units and 2% in shipped value. Fixed-lens compact cameras have increased by 29% in units and 49% in shipped value.

However, lenses for cameras with cropped sensors (mainly APS-C and M4/3) have increased by 7% in units and 18% in shipped value, although lenses for 35mm and larger sensors are down 4% in units and down 6% in shipped value.
