Previously released for full-frame mirrorless systems, this specialised lens now brings its industry‑leading magnification and Apochromatic (APO) performance to users of cameras with M4/3 sensors, with the added benefit of an Auto Aperture mechanism. The 2x crop factor of the M4/3 sensor gives photographers an impressive 180mm equivalent magnification without sacrificing resolution. This provides real benefits for nature and scientific photographers. The lens features a sophisticated optical formula of 13 elements in 10 groups with dedicated Apochromat (APO) engineering to suppress both longitudinal and lateral chromatic aberration. This keeps high-contrast edges crisp and free of coloured fringing, even at f/2.8. Nine iris diaphragm blades deliver soft, creamy background fall-off, making this lens also suitable for compressed, cinematic portraits with a 180mm equivalent field of view.
Electronic contacts that allow for seamless aperture control directly from the camera body ensure all EXIF metadata is recorded and full support is provided for IBIS image stabilisation. Internal focusing maintains a constant lens length, photographers can use the minimum working distance of 205 mm without the risk of hitting subjects or interfering with lighting setups. Weighing approximately 540g and measuring 115mm in length, it is significantly smaller and lighter than equivalent macro setups.
The Laowa 90mm f/2.8 2X Ultra Macro APO MFT Mount will be available for purchase starting February 29, 2026, through the Venus Optics official website (https://www.venuslens.net/) and authorised resellers. The MSRP is US$449. Click here to visit the product page for full details.
