All three products have been designed specifically for content creators, which means neither camera has a viewfinder of any kind. They will appeal mainly to ‘content creators’, such as vloggers, live-streamers and social media influencers who require simple operation plus the ability to upload content directly to the internet. The PowerShot V1 is a 4K 60/50p compact camera with a 1.4-inch type sensor that is similar in area to a M4/3 chip (243 mm2) plus a built-in 16-50mm f/2.8-4.5 lens. Weighing only 429 grams with battery and SD memory card, it includes Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF II autofocusing, Optical Image Stabilisation correction of up to 5 stops, a vari-angle monitor screen and support for Canon Log 3 recording as well as up to Full HD 120p slow-motion footage. Users can connect an external microphone and monitor audio levels in real time via the headphone jack. They can also connect a Bluetooth remote for hands-free shooting and utilise Wi-Fi and USB connectivity for fast file transfers.

The EOS R50 V is Canon’s first vlogging camera to accept interchangeable lenses. Aimed at creators who want better control over the look and feel of their footage, it comes with filmmaking features like Canon Log 3, three colour modes with 14 colour filters and five custom picture profiles and intelligent Dual Pixel CMOS AF II autofocus. Equipped with a 24.2-megapixel APS-C sized CMOS sensor and DIGIC X processor, it can record 4k 60p and 4k 30p with 6K oversampling for added detail. Slow and fast recording modes are supported, along with LUT uploading and users can register specific people to ensure AF prioritising. Like the PowerShot V1, the EOS R50 V has a vari-angle monitor with a touchscreen for easy setting adjustments, and a front-facing record button for a quick start to filming. It supports fast content transfers to smartphones and computers via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or USB and includes a dedicated LIVE button for quick access to livestreaming options. The EOS R50 V is compatible with Canon’s Live Switcher Mobile App, for easy multi-camera streaming with custom layouts and direct streaming to YouTube or Facebook – all from a mobile device.
The RF-S 14-30mm f/4-6.3 IS STM PZ is a compact (181 grams) and versatile power zoom lens, which features two-step variable speeds and 15 adjustable levels. Optical Image Stabilisation up to 5 stops ensures shake-free footage even while walking, while UD and aspheric lenses and Super Spectra coating helps ensure sharpness. This lens can focus to within 15 cm for close-up shots of crafts, collectibles or products. It can be controlled remotely from a smartphone or Bluetooth remote and accepts 58 mm filters.
