Powerhouse and Sony Australia have joined forces to offer a monthly series of exclusive evening workshops on astrophotography at the Sydney Observatory.

Sydney Observatory is the location for the new series of evening workshops.

Led by well-known Sony experts, accompanied by hosts from Sydney Observatory, the workshops will be tailored to suit aspiring astro and environmental photographers. Each two-hour session will immerse participants in the art of photography with a focus on the night sky, including information on mastering the intricacies of wide-angle and telephoto lenses and perfecting techniques for capturing detailed imagery of the night sky and landscapes across Sydney harbour. Participants will also explore the observatory grounds, delving into its rich history as a place of significance for Indigenous Australians and a hub of scientific exploration encompassing astronomy, timekeeping, signalling, milling and surveying. Sony Australia will provide photography equipment, and participants are welcome to bring their own.

The first workshop will take place on Wednesday, 7 August and be led by renowned astrophotographer, Jay Evans. Click here for more information.
