Officially announced on February 7, 2012, this professional grade DSLR has an effective resolution of 36.3 megapixels and supports Full HD video recording. The D800E is a specialized version which uses a new optical anti-aliasing filter with no low pass filter effect (no blurring) to obtain the sharpest images possible.
The D800 body has an SRP of US$2999.95, £2399 and €2892 in the Eurozone. No RRP has been released for Australia, although at least one local online retailer has it priced at AUD$2999.
