November 27, 2010: The gps4cam app for iPhones allows you to now geotag photos taken with all your digital cameras, not just your iPhone, without connecting to a network.
The app needs to be launched when you start taking photos. This starts a new trip. At the end of the trip, users generate a QR-Code (a 2D bar code) containing all the geotagging information, take a picture of it with their camera and download everything onto their computer using the free software provided. The tagged pictures can then be viewed with software like Picasa, iPhoto or Aperture, and shared on websites like Flickr etc.
gps4cam is compatible with standard image formats (jpg, raw and tiff), all camera brands and does not need to be manually synchronized to each camera. In fact, one QR-Code can be photographed by more than one person, so that you can geotag pictures taken by a whole group with only one iPhone. The app also has an energy saving mode, ideal for travelers.
gps4cam is available in Apple’s App Store for $1.99 For more information, visit www.gps4cam.com
