Leica Camera Australia has formally launched its second Australian store and gallery on the first floor of St. Collins Lane in the Melbourne CBD.
The new site has almost three times the floor space of the Leica Store in Sydney. It is designed to showcase Leica’s premium photography and nature observation products, as well as hosting a resell program for Leica products and offering expert advice from experienced staff members to image makers of every skill level. The store will also represent the 20th Leica Gallery worldwide for displaying works by Leica photographers. The first exhibition on display, from New York based, Magnum photographer, Bruce Gilden will display 15 street photographs Bruce captured in Melbourne in 2011, using his Leica M6 camera.
The company’s popular Leica Akademie classes – designed and run by photographers, for photographers – will be regularly hosted at the new Melbourne store. Interested participants are welcome to attend an upcoming registration day being held at the store, on Sunday 9 December 2018. The Leica Store & Gallery Melbourne will be open between 10am-6pm Monday-Wednesday and Saturday, 10am-7pm on Thursday-Friday and 10am-5pm on Sundays.
