April 27, 2009: Kodak has released a new pocket video camera that enables users to shoot video in 720p HD at 30-60fps, recording up to 10 hours with a 32GB SD/SDHC memory card.
Designed for outdoor photographers, the new Zx1 provides resistance to rain, snow, sand and dirt and automatically adjusts to bright and low light levels. It sports a 2-inch LCD monitor and is designed for point-and-press operation with no lens cap, dials to turn or settings to adjust. Weighing only 90 grams, it measures 50.8 x 106.8 x 20.3 mm, allowing it to be carried in a pocket or purse. A built-in low distortion microphone provides crisp, clear audio and the camera is powered by AA Ni-MH rechargeable batteries. A charger and HDMI cable are supplied with the camera.
Pre-loaded software offers easy uploads to YouTube and other internet sites. The Zx 1 also comes with ArcSoft Media Impressions for Kodak editing software. The camera will be offered initially in three colours (black, red and pink) with new colours available at a later date. RRP on release is $299. A remote control is available as an optional accessory.
