April 8, 2011: GE’s PJ1 projector camera is scheduled to go on sale in selected photographic and department stores from May at an RRP of $449.
At just 21.2mm thick, the 14.1-megapixel PJ1 is claimed as the world’s slimmest projector-camera. Its built-in Texas Instruments’ DLP projector offers a superior contrast ratio of 300:1 and displays images with a 16:9 aspect ratio and brightness of 15 lumens. The camera sports a 7x wide angle zoom lens covering focal lengths equivalent to 28-196mm in 35mm format and provides more than 25 shooting modes to choose from.
Focus is controlled by a sliding lever on the camera’s top, the rechargeable battery delivers up to 70 minutes of projection time and, in a darkened room, projection size can reach up to almost 1.8 metres. The GE PJ1 can also connect to a laptop for broadcasting still pictures or 720p HD movies recorded with the camera.
The rear panel sports a 3-inch LCD screen and comes with a remote control and charging base that can hold the during presentations.
