Panasonic has announced a firmware update that will enhance the 4K capabilities of the Lumix DMC-GH4 and DMC-FZ1000 cameras.

The new firmware will introduce a ‘4K Photo Mode’ that will allow photographers to capture spur of the moment shots by cutting out individual frames from 4K video to create a 8-megapixel equivalent JPEG image. The firmware update will be released on the Panasonic Lumix Support Site at http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/dsc/ at the beginning of October, 2014.
