Two of the images selected for this year’s exhibition were taken on a Fujifilm camera – ‘Returning Home From War’ by Vincent Haiges (shown above) shot on Fujifilm X-Pro2 and ‘The Edge’ by Zishaan Latif shot on GFX50S II. This year’s exhibition is the first since Fujifilm and World Press Photo Foundation announced an ongoing strategic partnership in January, with the photography and imaging company supporting the World Press Photo Foundation to bring more support to photographers and reach a wider audience via its exhibitions and online platforms. The exhibition will travel to 80 cities across the globe this year.
To celebrate the first day of the Sydney exhibition on May 25, Fujifilm will also offer guests an exclusive first-look at its new GFX100S II and X-T50 cameras, ahead of their release in mid-June. The latest World Press Photo Competition attracted more than 61,000 entries from 3,851 photographers in 130 countries, from which the judges selected just 24 winners, six honourable mentions and two jury special mentions, which will be on display in this year’s exhibition.
