Canon Australia has released details of the six winners of its Australian and New Zealand based creative photography competition, Canon EOS Photo5.
Now in its 6th year, EOS Photo5 is the competition that inspires two nations to create amazing photography and take their skills to the next level. This year saw over 6,600 images uploaded. This year’s inspiration was spaghetti, tissue paper, little people, fishing wire (which had to be shot using a particular photographic technique) as well as an open brief ““ ‘wind’.
The panel of EOS Photo5 judges was comprised of six professional and highly-respected photographers in Australia and New Zealand who chose the finalists. The winner of each category was chosen through a phase of public voting by the World of EOS community. Individual winners are as follows:
Brief One ““ Wind, Open: Sarah Pembroke;
Brief Two ““ Spaghetti; Portraiture: Jono Ward;
Brief Three ““ Tissue Paper; Strong Colour: Steven Merrifield:
Brief Four ““ Little People; Scale: Michelle Smit;
Brief Five ““ Fishing Wire, Black & White: Wayne Sorensen;
Portfolio winner: Kylie Garner.
The winner of each brief and the winner of the Portfolio Competition will undertake a three day creative photography workshop with Jackie Ranken and Mike Langford at Uluru in the Northern Territory. Accommodation and flights provided by Voyages and Tourism NT are included with the workshop prize, which is valued at up to $5,000. Plus each winner will receive a high quality canvas print of their choice from photoPICO powered by Canon valued at $399 each.
