Designed for first time DSLR shooters, the EOS 77D and EOS 800D have similar specification with only minor differences between them. Both models are based upon the same 24.2 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor as found in the EOS 80D and both include Canon’s latest DiG!C 7 processor. A new visually guided interface helps users master different shooting modes. Users can view camera settings quickly via the top panel LCD and use the dual control wheels to make quick adjustments. Both cameras come with Dual Pixel CMOS Auto Focus support plus 45-point all cross type AF systems and a 5-axis digital image stabiliser setting for recording steady movie clips. Both models are equipped with Bluetooth wireless control that provides a low-power constant connection to facilitate image sharing via smart devices. They also come with Wi-Fi and NFC connections.
The table below shows the key features of the two new models.

Weighing only 215 grams, the new EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM kit lens the smallest in its class, with a length of only 61.8 mm. Its zoom range encompasses subjects as diverse as landscape to portraits, making it an ideal partner for an entry-level DSLR. The lens includes a 4-stop Image Stabilizer for steady low-light or full zoom shots and features a 7-blade iris diaphragm that closes to produce a circular aperture for pleasing background blur in portraits. When shooting movies, the Servo AF with near-silent STM focuses quickly without distracting noise.
The new BR-E1 remote controller is Bluetooth enabled and allows users of the EOS 77D and EOS 800D to operate their cameras remotely. It has a 5 metre range from all directions and easy-to-find controls for capturing images and movies and operating focus and zoom functions.
The EOS 77D, EOS 800D, EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM and Remote Controller BR-E1 will be available locally from the end of March 2017. Prices will be set at dealers’ discretion. For more information, visit www.canon.com.au.
