February 7, 2007: Baltronics has been appointed Australian distributor of the Sinar Hy6 and Leaf AFi professional cameras and will handle local sales of the Rollei 6008 AF, 6008 Integral and X-ACT2 medium format SLRs.
The 4.5 x 6 cm Sinar Hy6 and Leaf AFi digital cameras, which are designed to be used with Leaf or Sinar digital backs, were developed in conjunction with Jenoptik (owners of Sinar and Schneider-Kreuznach) and Franke & Heidecke (manufacturers of Rollei professional products). Both are developments of the Rollei 6008 AF design, but the Hy6 has been optimised for ease of use with Sinar digital backs and the Leaf AFi for use with Leaf Aptus backs. The design retains the original 6 x 6 format allowing for further sensor upgrades, and the fitting of a film back is possible. The cameras have been designed with an intentionally flexible architecture and a modern interface, enabling them to be adapted to future developments.
Both cameras offer shutter speeds up to 1/1000 second;, P, A, S and M exposure modes and centre-weighted multi-zone and spot metering (3% of the frame area). Up to five readings can be stored in the multi-spot metering mode and both cameras offer TTL-flash metering at the film plane. A pre-flash facility is available with studio flash units. Both eye and waist level viewfinders are available, and the backs can be rotated easily for vertical or horizontal photographs. Five Schneider AF lenses have been specially designed for the 33MP digital backs: the AFD Xenotar f2.8 80 mm PQS, AFD Super-Angulon f2.8 50 mm PQS, AFD Tele-Xenar f4 150 mm PQS, AFD Tele-Xenar 2.8 180 mm PQ and AFD Varigon f4.6 60 – 140 mm PQS. The first shipments of the Sinar and Leaf cameras are scheduled to arrive in Australia in late May. The Integral is the base model in the 6000 series Rollei medium format SLR range and offers Intelligent TTL flash technology plus multi-spot metering with Aperture priority, shutter priority, programmed AE and manual modes. Film advance is by motor drive at two frames per second. The 6008 AF model is an auto-focus camera capable of using the Schneider-Kreuznach AF PQS leaf -shutter lenses, which are flash synchronised up to 1/1000 second. It takes either 6 x 6 or 4.5 x 6 cm film backs with film speeds from ISO 25 to 6400 in 1/3 stop increments. Baltronics has stocks of the Rollei 6008 now. For a demonstration or further information on the Sinar, Leaf of Rollei cameras phone Baltronics on (02) 9429 6800 or (03) 9427 7440.
