Encompassing a 100-400mm full-frame equivalent focal length, the new lens weighs just 1,075 grams (or 1,250 grams with the supplied tripod collar) and supports up to seven stops of camera shake correction when used on cameras with 5-axis sync IS. Like most OM System cameras, this lens boasts IP53-certified splash- and dust-resistance and freezeproof construction, plus a fluorine coating on the front element to repel moisture and dust and ZERO Coating II to reduce ghosting and flare. It can focus to within 78 cm of subjects across the full zoom range, offering up to half-life-size magnification. The 21-element, 13-group optical design supports edge-to-edge clarity with one EDA, two Super ED, one ED, two HR, and three E-HR elements. Internal zooming keeps the lens well balanced for smooth, steady shooting.
The new lens is compatible with the MC-14 and MC-20 teleconverters, which will expand its reach up to 560mm f/4.0 with the MC-14, or 800mm f/5.6 with the MC-20 (35mm equivalent). It is available to purchase now form leading specialist outlets or through the OM System website. Click here for full details.
