Entries for the annual BirdLife Australia Photography Awards will close at 8AM AEST, Tuesday 12 August.

The competition is open to all skill levels with a range of categories to suit everyone – including a youth category for budding young photographers. This year’s special theme is Diurnal Raptors, which covers birds of prey that are active during the day. The competition also includes categories covering Backyard Birds, Bird Behaviour, Bird Portrait, Birds in Flight, Birds in the Landscape, Youth, Human Impact and a Portfolio Prize. Each category winner will receive a $1,000 cash prize – with $2,000 up for grabs for the winner of this year’s Portfolio Prize, courtesy of the Principal Sponsor, Nikon Australia.
