Five Australian photographers have been nominated in the 10 categories of the 2026 Siena International Photo Awards, which is hosted annually by the historic city of Siena in Italy.

The Siena International Photo Awards (SIPA) is a prestigious photography competition open to professional, amateur, and student photographers worldwide. Judged by a distinguished international panel of experts comprising renowned photographers and top photo editors from leading magazines, the competition highlights exceptional talent from diverse backgrounds.
The local photographers whose images have been selected for final judging are as follows, with the categories for which they have been selected shown in brackets:
Douglas Gimsey (Animals in their Environment)
Georgina Steyler (The Beauty of Nature)
Elle Leontiev (Fascinating Faces and Characters)
Dean Mouhtaropoulos (Sports in Action)
Adam Pretty has been nominated for two categories, Sports in Action and Short Documentary Film.
The winning photographers will be honored on October 10th at the Teatro dei Rinnovati in Siena, during the Awards Ceremony that will inaugurate the Siena Awards Festival. The festival will include a series of events, exhibitions and tours of Siena and its surroundings from October 10th to November 29th. Click here for more information.
