August 22, 2006: Eight new printers will be added to Canon’s product line-up in the next two months, offering competitive pricing, ease of use and features to suit a wide range of users.
Top of the range is the Pixma iP6700D (RRP $349), which features a large 3.5 inch colour LCD screen for viewing images stored on memory cards plus a range of direct retouching functions (including red-eye correction). Designed to work as a direct photo printer, the iP6700D can be used with or without a computer and features ultra-sharp 1 picolitre FINE technology plus an output resolution of up to 9600 x 2400 dpi. Media handling of the iP6700D printer is state-of-the-art with automatic duplex, dual paper path (ASF and paper cassette) holding up to 300 sheets and CD/DVD printing. The iP6700D printer is due to go on sale next month. Sister model, the Pixma iP6320D (RRP $149) has a smaller 2.5-inch LCD screen and uses 2 picolitre FINE technology. Due for release in October, the iP6320D can print a borderless snapshot-sized photo in approximately 60 seconds and offers direct printing from popular camera memory cards. Direct print functions include Face Brightener, Noise Reduction, Vivid Photo, Red Eye Correction, Layout Print, Sticker Print, Trimming and adjustments for brightness, contrast and colour. Inks for both models are supplied in six individually replaceable cartridges.
iP1700
The Pixma iP1700 model (RRP $69) replaces the current Pixma iP2200 and iP1600 printers and offers 2 picolitre FINE technology, resolution of up to 4800 x 1200 dpi and the ability to make borderless prints up to A4 size. It can produce a snapshot-sized print in just 55 seconds and supports document printing at up to 22 ppm in black and 17 ppm in colour. The Pixma iP1300 (RRP $49), which replaces the iP1200 model, has the same output resolution but is slightly slower, printing a snapshot photo in roughly 70 seconds and offering document printing at up to 11 ppm in black and 11 ppm in colour. Three new “all-in-one” printer/copier/scanner models have been included in the new line-up. Top model is the Pixma MP460 (RRP $179), which features “Dual Gamut Colour Processing Technology” for better copies and photo reprints and is available now.

This model has a 1.9 inch colour LCD screen for viewing images on memory cards and uses 2 picolitre FINE print-head technology. The MP460 can scan at up to 1200 x 2400 dpi and copy documents at 22 ppm (black) and 17 ppm (colour). It offers print resolution of up to 4800 x 1200 dpi, snapshot photo printing in approximately 52 seconds and borderless photo prints up to A4 size.
Also on current sale is the Pixma MP160 (RRP $89), which replaces the MP150 model and includes “Dual Gamut Colour Processing Technology” for better copies and photo reprints. The Pixma MP180 (RRP $119), which goes on sale next month, replaces the MP170 and offers camera and card direct printing. Scanning resolution and printing speeds are similar to the MP460 model and a Z-shaped lid makes it easy to copy and scan thick items such as books or magazines. All the above printers use Canon’s new ChromaLife100 inks, which have a claimed durability of up to 100 years when prints are made on selected Canon papers.
CP730
Canon’s new Selphy CP730 Compact Photo Printer (RRP $199) makes printing postcard-sized photos at home fun and easy. Replacing the CP710 model, it uses dye-sublimation technology and features a 2.0-inch LCD monitor for viewing images, a retractable USB cable and slots for most popular camera memory cards. Users can also print pictures from Prints receive a durable clear UV protective coating to make them long-lasting and Canon claims up to 100 years print life.
